Corinbank 09 - The first night.

I’d curse the drummer who woke me this morning, except I had to drag my sorry hungover arse up and out anyway to report to you on the mirth and merriment that is Corinbank 09. So really we should all thank those delightful early morning drummers… Maybe.

It’s a hard thing to describe this place.

An alpine valley transformed into a huge party. Only it’s a party where there are no neighbours to complain about the noise and no one has to drive home.

Consequently it went late, and loud, and everyone shows every sign of having a good time.

The Crooked Fiddle Band were probably the highlight of the night, closely followed by the O’Hooligans final performance.

The magical string of lanterns wending its way through the valley along the path connecting the the stages kept threatening to steal the show for all that the hike is going to get really old before the weekend is done. But the constantly evolving creative campsites along the way at least provide intrigue.

Anyway there’s still a huge program to go, so if you’re still in Canberra ask yourself if you want to get a piece of the fun up here?

I’m not going til I know for sure when Saga and Rigby are on. So far it sounds like bloody folkies. Yikes.

Just wait til the portaloos pack it in, then there’ll be angst and riots for sure.

They are compost loos.

Just an idle observation for the organisers. I searched the Corinbank web site and the best I could find was that the event was being held somwhere in the Brindies.

Corin Forest. Really. How hard is it.

I can’t find them at all in the program, sorry ant!

Well, i’m probably not going anyway, unless it’s still going on Wednesday when I fly back into the country (skiing in Utah has turned to CRAP) but I woudln’t have missed it if Rigby and Saga’s appearances hadn’t been kept such a secret. Humf.

Angst and riots!! Why didn’t anybody say so?! They’re my favourite band ….

lol

Isn’t there a program online? I’ll try to find out for you!

What’s the “Party Safe Bus”? Is that where they can test your disco bikkies for purity?

Just an idle observation for the organisers. I searched the Corinbank web site and the best I could find was that the event was being held somwhere in the Brindies. I couldn’t find any instruction as to how to get there. Maybe my tired old eyes missed it but if I’d been a visitor to Canberra and wanted to go I would have thought the web site would tell you how to get there in big letters.
Apart from that it looks like a great idea.

Glad you’re having such an excellent time, JB!

I haven’t been camping for years. I really loved it as a kid. My grandmother would take us up the Great Ocean Road in her landrover to camp in the rainforest. It looks like it’s been perfect weather for it and a fabulous location. It kind of makes me miss camping.

I would think this will really encourage more people to go along.
