Get your gumboots out, all is not lost.

While we mourn the loss of Corinbank 2012 to the foul weather there’s still something to do on Friday night.

The Polish White Eagle Club in O’Connor is going to be playing host to the orphaned artists (musical, performing, visual) this Friday night.

More details to follow.

UPDATE 01/03/12 14:42:

This in from the Canberra Musicians Club:

The Corinbank Cancellation Consolation Congregation
White Eagle Polish Club
Friday 2nd March, 7pm till late

Corinbank 2012 has been dealt a terrible blow by this extraordinary weather system, but with a number of performers already in town and otherwise idle, and with hundreds of culture lovers bereft of their much anticipated weekend entertainment, a coalition of people have hastily pulled together a small dose of Corinbank to bring them all together.

Fully endorsed by Corinbank, this event is free for those who pre-purchased festival tickets, and all profits from the evening will go to help Corinbank pay some of the inevitable debts arising from what must be a devastating cancellation.

Guests will be treated to a constellation of entertainments musical, artistic, circusy, slow food banquety (TBC) and all chai enriched.

Proudly (and sadly) supported by: Canberra Musicians Club, the Polish Club, le Petite Circus`

UPDATE 01/03/12 22:26: There’s now a facebook page for the event with this information:

Corinbank 2012 has been dealt a terrible blow by this extraordinary weather system, but with a bunch of performers at a loose end and hundreds of culture lovers bereft of their much anticipated weekend entertainment, a small, but much drier, dose of Corinbank has been hastily arranged to bring them all together in somewhat humble congregation.

Appearing: The Beez, Fun Machine, Hashemoto, Beth ‘n’ Ben, Big Score, Bally Performing Artists (circus sideshow, burlesque dancers, drag queens), interactive sculpture, creative camp samples.

Fully endorsed by Corinbank, event entry is free for those who pre-purchased festival tickets or pre-volunteered, and all profits from the evening will go to help Corinbank pay some of the inevitable debts arising from what must be a devastating cancellation.

Guests will be treated to a constellation of entertainments musical, artistic, circusy, slow food banquety (TBC’d Polish food available also) and all chai enriched.

Proudly (and also sadly) supported by: Canberra Musicians Club, the Polish Club, le Petite Circus`

Sadly the Crooked Fiddle Bank are unable to make it.

Terrific night at the club. Lots of smiling, friendly faces and some very good musical performances esp. from b&b and band.

There are pretty flags outside the Polish club already, and lots of earnest young things scurrying around. Is this night suitable for children (of fairly liberal parents)?

Curious that none of the touring artists are doing this gig.

This from Corin high command:

“The reason only one of the Corinbank guest acts (The Beez) is playing the Polish Club tonight is that by the time the Polish club had been secured all guests had been advised of the postponement and had cancelled all their travel plans. I invited all of them to play at the Polish Club, but it was too late – much to my disappointment.

If you click on the video link above, you might notice ze hint of a German accent or zwei — The Beez are from Berlin. AND they’re coming up from the South Coast for this when they could be forgiven for heading straight to Sydney for their weekend gigs given the cancellation.

Curious that none of the touring artists are doing this gig.

Seeing as they’re hoping to raise funds I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to.

(But wear gum boots)

Auction your mildly famous gum boots JB. They may make a fiver.*

*or a twoer, anyways.

Anyone know if non Corinbank-goers will be able to get a ticket at the door?

Seeing as they’re hoping to raise funds I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to.
