The Canberra Times reports on sky-rocketing fees at Canberra’s private schools.

With demand for their places never higher they’re just figuring our what the market will bear, but it is worth noting that they’re also paying a 19% pay rise to their teachers over the next four years.

That payrise is for the Anglican schools – Grammar, Girls Grammar, Burgmann and Radford. The CEO won’t agree to a payrise until the Govt one is finalised.

Fair enough – if parents want the best possible education, they will find a way to pay it. Personally I’d like to see teachers get paid even more, but held to higher standards.
