According to this media release and various signs up around the town centre, on Tuesday Belconnen will host a counter-terrorism exercise. This latest locally developed episode of the war on terror will see the Belconnen bus interchange closed for most of the day and relocated to Lathlain st; Benjamin way also closed for most of the day; and Cameron Ave closed for an hour. As an employee of a govt agency in this area I will be very keen to see what they have planned, and the black pyjama brigade in action. I also expect that most agencies and businesses in the vicinity will have a drop in productivity for the day as we all plan to spend most of it with our noses pressed against the glass – unless they get us to participate (I’ll be the one wearing the tea towel on my head). Hopefully part of this exercise will see the old Cameron Offices levelled by the terrorists.
