Andrew Barr has announced the engagement of Cox Architects to advise on how to implement an ACT Government office building in Gungahlin:

They will identify:

— a suitable site in Gungahlin for a 7,000 m2 office building and associated parking – either government or privately owned;
— the most appropriate procurement process to ensure the best outcome for the territory but ensuring those who have purchased commercial land in Gungahlin are not disadvantaged;
— which government staff would be the most appropriate tenants for the building; and
— the requirements for the building in terms of base building and fitout the most appropriate tenants for the building.

It’s curious how throughout all the arguments about the synergies of co-locating the ACT Public Service in the London Circuit Pleasure Dome the one promise to base some administrators in Gungahlin remains sacrosanct.
