The course sounds great, although a large amount of information to cover in one day. I am the author and self editor of my first two books with another 4 books ready to publish. Its a big world out there for anyone who wants to write and publish their own books without prior knowledge of how it all works. The National Library has both of my books now, the first one being Talk to Your Cells – and become your own creator by Author Elaine Croker. I would like to do them as e-books when I have the time. Prime Tuning”

Hi MarcusA, can you post some links to e-books you’ve produced? It would be good to see some good stuff you’ve done. “Conducting an ebook course twice’ doesn’t satisfy your claim to be much-published, a professional editor etc. And ‘in-house instructional videos’ could mean anything. Where I work, that’s just an unedited video of a speaker shot from a single cheap camera with bad sound. How complex and professional have these videos of yours been? Do you have anything on the web?

I don’t actually mind Youth Project Officer’s stuff, as it draws more people to them, and possibly more to us by reciprocity.

So long as he\she\it\they don’t mind the generalised slagging and occasional very specific mudslinging we engage in.

It’s weird to see yourself discussed online, I guess there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Someone pointed to an old video blog I had while doing an excellent short-filmmaking course conducted by Matthew Fallon: http://www.eormedia.com.au. That blog is finished and served its purpose while I did that course. I also make and edit instructional videos for my employer, these are not posted on that old blog.

Many authors are now using online video to help promote their books. The course will cite some examples.

I’ve conducted the ebook course twice before at the ACT Writers Centre, but this year I’m doing significant updates to the content to take into account the newer social bookmarking technologies which authors can use to help drive traffic to their web sites.

It’s a lot of content for one day.

What’s the hit/session rate on RiotACT? I mean the number of unique hits by different people?

It was me, not Marcus Amman. I apologise for the misplaced hyphens and commas. I’m not a stickler for grammatical rectitude when I’m posting stuff in a hurry. I occasionally post notices of our writers workshops that might be of interest to your network. Is that spamming? If so, I’ll desist. By the way this the Writers Centre is a non-profit association and we just cover costs with these workshops. – Hal Judge

No, Maelinar, no.

Quite frankly, you attempted to make a snappy comment and I added logic to bring it down. Happens all the time. Mostly to you.

@WMD – feel free to go along then. Other than your spurious attempts at taking cheap shots, do you actually contribute anything here ?

If you actually read my post, I say a lot more than the 53 characters on screen – pay particular attention to these following points:

How to Make your e-book
Doing it yourself
Protecting your work from thieves
Tips for doing it cheaply

All addressed – with several un-noteworthy further examples dismissed, as I would then have to waste further time in explaining them to you.

To which, further commentary, to you, is closed.

“Youth Project Officer” is turning into our very own spamming contributor.

Bit like that mob that continually spams their own band, but hasn’t for some time.

@Maelinar – Why, I didn’t know converting .docs into pdf’s automatically marketed them and turned them into bestselling books. Computers these days!

The course includes ‘video’ – and here’s his ‘video blog’ – last updated quite some time ago. He has posted ONE video to Youtube, there’s no reference to anything more/more recent – and he’s putting himself out as an expert/trainer. Shouldn’t the ACT Writers Centre check the credentials of a trainer before putting a promotion on riotact?

Check out the grammatical errors in his bloggings, peeps, before you consider spending $140 on this workshop. Mr Amann can’t even place his commas and hyphens correctly.
