The Canberra Raiders are taking some pride in Jarrod Croker’s impending 100th game for the side:

Star centre Jarrod Croker will be crowned the fastest Canberra Raiders player to play in 100 NRL games since making their debut for the club and the second youngest player ever to reach the century milestone when he runs onto Canberra Stadium on Sunday against the club that he made his debut against back in 2009, the high-flying Sydney Roosters.
There will be a further sense of irony for Croker when he achieves these milestones given that the youngest player to reach the century milestone for the Raiders, 130 days younger than Jarrod, is his distant relative Jason Croker.

“It’s a bit funny I suppose and there’s a little bit of irony there being shaded by Jason but they’re good accolades to have and they’re something that I’m very proud of,” said Croker.

“I still remember the day when Furnsie [Coach David Furner] came over to me at training and told me that I’d be playing first grade that week and how excited I was and I’m happy to say that I still get that feeling the 100th time around.

“I’ve been lucky enough – touch wood – with injuries and hopefully that continues and I’ll have another couple of 100 to come.

Hopefully he can turn it on come Sunday.

Congratulations to Croker. He’s always struck me as more than a decent player, and the sort the Raiders need to keep hold of.

Great stuff. Croker is one of my faves and is also well on the way to being one of the club’s top pointscorers.
