A 20-year-old man from South Australia has been arrested for assaulting an ACT Policing officer in the city this morning (Friday, December 23).

Around 5.35am, police attended to a disturbance on the corner of Alinga Street and East Row involving a number of people. During the altercation, the 20-year-old man confronted police in an aggressive manner. The man verbally abused the officers before a family member of the man told police that he would care of him and take him home.

A short time later, around 6.00am, police approached the 20-year-old man who was now causing a disturbance opposite a licensed premises on London Circuit. The family member that agreed to take care of the man could not be located by police.

Police attempted to arrest the man for breach of the peace, and he resisted arrest, punching one of the male officers in the face.

Other ACT Policing officers came to assist, helping to handcuff and arrest the man. He was taken to the ACT Watch House and will be charged with causing harm to a Commonwealth Official and resisting arrest.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.

so when did he eat the crow?
this is making me hungry did it taste like chicken?

I see that ACT Police Media Unit have the work-experience kid writing press releases again. Good on them for giving him/her a chance but perhaps the supervisor could proof read it before release. It really doesn’t flow well.

I do hope the police officer is OK.

This will be a test for the new legislation which deal with assault on police, I hope? Lets see how our magistrates perform on this matter.

This makes me feel sick. I hope the officer was okay, and that DH is in jail.

What a s*** for brains.

Hopefully there is a slow down over the break in the legal system so the guy can spend some extra cooling out time.

He’ll be out on bail already, feet up, nursing a hangover.

I foresee a wagged finger in his future.

Hopefully there is a slow down over the break in the legal system so the guy can spend some extra cooling out time.
