CSIRO Boffins Revolting

The ABC brings word that the scientists of the CSIRO have voted to go on strike following negotiations for their next enterprise agreement:

Sam Popovski from the CSIRO Staff Association says members are pushing for a better pay rise, and they also want to be consulted in future about major changes to the organisation.

“Including staffing decisions, the funding decisions, science priority decisions. And we don’t think that this is an adequate position for CSIRO executives to take with staff who do actually want to contribute to improved decision making in the organisation,” he said.

It’s always a problem for management when the staff are smarter than they are.

Good on the scientists at the CSIRO.

Reports from their staff association are that management have failed to bargain in good faith and delayed genuine negotiations since November. Clearly, the staff are pretty fed up .. and are smart enough to know they’re getting served a s — t sandwich!

As a biologist/chemist, I take offence to that! Maybe you were thinking of computer scientists?

😛

While scientists may have slightly different standards of personal hygiene to the rest of us, it’s a little harsh to call them revolting, don’t you think?
