Curtin traffic changes for your consideration

Chief Minister Gallagher wants to know what you think about plans to change the traffic on Curtin’s McCulloch Street:

“Proposed measures aim to address concerns expressed by residents in Curtin over the potential for an increase in traffic flow through the area due to the Molonglo development as well as with existing traffic volumes and speeds on this residential street.

“Officers from Roads ACT have met with local residents on three separate occasions this year to explore a number of options to improve safety in the area. A preferred approach has now been determined which is open for public comment.”

The proposed changes for McCulloch Street in Curtin include:

— speed humps on approaches to the roundabout;
— raised platforms with a marked pedestrian crossing;
— a reduced speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour;
— traffic island at the intersection of McCulloch Street and Dunstan Street;
— new signage to reflect the changed traffic conditions; and
— on-street parking.

Nice that they’re trying, but not much will change with traffic on McCulloch St until the Cotter Rd bridge over Adelaide Ave allows traffic to turn towards Woden and not just the City.
