Sadly the ABC is reporting that a cyclist was killed earlier this morning in a collision with a truck on the Monaro highway just north of Bredbo.
The truck driver has been taken to the Cooma Hospital with minor injuries
the kids name was matt and he lived two doors down from me. it was no accident what happend. he used to get beat up at school alot as the kids thought he was gay, a bit sad really that kids can force someone to do something like that, i live in kambah, he had trouble sleeping and told his mum he was going for a ride. i saw a police car pull into his driveway at around 6 30 that night, the only way they knew who he was, was from a delivery reciept in his pocket that had the address.
he wasnt wearing a helmet or reflective gear, apparently, so the truck driver couldnt see him or anything.
its really sad that his parents apparently didnt know anything of it till that night..so pretty much everyone found out yesterday..
Terrible news… so what’s the details? What exactly happened?
i went to high school with the cyclist.
he had only just turned 17..he died too early…
(it is slightly suss. why was he in bredbo at 4am in the morning. doesnt make sence to me!)
My cousins drive a lot of the semi’s on that highway, I sure hope it wasn’t them.
A mate of mine lives down that way, and is a keen cyclist. I sure hope this wasn’t him.
Keep your eyes on this one, kids. The word is that it could be a bit sus.
not crazy, i see this all the time. no lights at all, no reflective clothing – pitch black.
frankly it amazes me more cyclists arent killed due to their own poor preparation for the conditions they plan to ride in.
however in this instance, lets wait for the coroner to report instead of relying on truckie chat.
You’d have to be crazy to ride the Monaro Highway at four in the morning, either with or without reflective clothing.
On the UHF this morning, the banter was that apparently the cyclist did not have any reflective clothing on.
Where will the Raiders finish the 2018 season?
