satay chicken

Dai Ho are another of the veteran dwellers of the old Canberra Centre food court.

Most of their mains are priced over $10 but a couple are not and one of those is the satay chicken.

There’s no noodle option at that price, just fried or boiled rice.

The fried rice is very heavy with pepper.

The satay chicken was greasy and full of gristle. It tasted mostly of salt.

For bain marie chinese there are many tastier and cheaper options around town.

(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)

Would never eat at Dai Ho again after I found several large maggots in my Laksa. I returned the uneaten portion and showed the lady the maggots and she said, ‘happens all the time.’ I asked for a refund and she threw my money back at me.
Not impressed with that place at all.

well, I certainly don’t believe you.

The better version is upstairs, asian tiger. about the same price but seems a tad nicer food.

The guy who established and ran Dai Ho actually left that place to start Asian Tiger. That said, I haven’t seen him at Asian Tiger for over a year so not sure if he still runs it.

Asian Tiger is a bit suspect in the food safety department. For all the grissle and pepper, Dai Ho has always served the food up piping hot. Asian Tiger on the other hand has always served food that is luke warm or less. Dangerous stuff particularly sitting out for an hour or two. Once got served fried rice that was cold.

Why don’t you review something healthy? Whenever I check this update it’s always some high fat grease ball with a serving old rice.

There’s so much salt and low grad crap in that takeway it’ll make your pubes fall out. It’s pretty easy to have a lunch every day that costs you $10 a serve, that you won’t be paying for with a heart attack in 10 years time or a few inches to your waistline in the interim.

Fatty, fat, fat fat!!!!!

Their pre cooked selection hasn’t been great over the years, but if you’re stuck in the Canberra Centre, they still do a pretty mean Food Court Laksa.. (note: “food court”)
