Why isn’t everyone up in arms or excited about Princess Mary and her family coming to Canberra?

The lights on the bridge will be red and white (starting to think they’re going to have issues if they only have three colours), a tree will be planted and roads will be closed (again)…

hey at least she’s Australian… and living the dream of so many young girls out there… married to Prince Charming. (*insert school girl sigh*)

Because after Queen Mum and the leader of the most powerful nation in the world, the only thing that can top it is either a Papal visit, or Dalai Lama dropping in.

Actually, the Dalai Lama seems to stay under the radar. Aussie PMs tend to decline official meetings with him (he was in Australia in June this year), whereas Mary had a full honour guard and an official meeting with Ms Gillard today. She just didn’t stop traffic in the literal sense.

No disrespect to them, but with exception to womens weekly readers, no one cares. They just can not compete with visits by the Queen (of AU) and the POTUS…

Because who cares? They’re not even head of state. Just obscure European aristocracy. About as exciting as a visit from a Kardashian, I would’ve thought.

Prince Charming? Insert vomit!
On a serious note, WTF is wrong with our roads? It used to be scandalous if a visiting head of state got deliberately given all the green lights (but understandable) – have we lost this ability? Do we really need to close all the roads every time someone visits a city that should be set up to accommodate then? If so, I have some serious questions to ask of the NCA.
