Deakin house fire

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently on scene at a house fire on Lamington Street, Deakin.

Fire crews have knocked down the flames of the fire with smoke still issuing from the building.

No neighbouring properties have been damaged.

Update to follow.

Fire has been extinguished.

Crews are currently ventilating and conducting air monitoring operations of the house.

Three fire pumpers on scene with the Breathing Apparatus Van, Hazardous Materials Unit and two command vehicles.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 1.32pm.

2:22 PM

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics assessed one elderly female who did not require transport to hospital.

The intial cause determination of the fire appears to be electrical in the three bedroom house.

2:40 PM

Estimated damage $40,000.

Single occupant of the house was alerted to the fire from a working smoke alarm.

Fire believed to have started in an electrical fuse box.
