ACT Policing Criminal Investigation Detectives are conducting an investigation into the death of a 30-year-old woman found at a house in Macgregor yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, March 28).
The woman was found in a room of the house by a relative around 4 pm.
Detectives have executed a search warrant overnight and seized a number of items for forensic examination.
Two men are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Forensic examination of the Macgregor house is being conducted and it is anticipated further search warrants will be executed later today.
A post mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow (Friday, March 30). Preliminary examinations reveal that the woman sustained a number of stab wounds.
Police are unable to provide any further details relating to the deceased woman until all family members are notified.
Condolences. What a terrible event.
Pretty calculated if they dumped the clothing in the bins on bin day – probably thought the cops would get there AFTER the garbage truck got there!
I assume thought that even if the garbage was collected, it would be pretty easy to track down at the tip? Wonder if there is procedures in place for that kind of thing!? Hmmm… interesting!
Do they have a motive yet?
Condolences to the victims family.

what? where did this come from? bin morning in Macgregor is today and the police discovered this yesterday afternoon…had the street blocked nearly all night and were still there at 8:30am……

Yes i realise it happened yesterday… sorry i re-read my comment as it does say “on bin day”…
Quoted from http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/police-investigate-apparent-stabbing-homicide-in-macgregor-20120329-1vzdy.html
“…Her body had been discovered in her home by a relative about 4pm…”
“…Police had remained at the house until roughly 5am this morning, according to neighbours. Specialist Response and Security officers had arrived back at the scene about 9.30am. They had began searching through neighbouring grassland and bins that lined the street. Clothing was found dumped in a garbage bin, and forensic investigators were called for an examination later in the morning…”
I looked on the TAMS website which states bin day is this morning… if clothing was put in the bin yesterday afternoon, it still would have gone in today’s garbage collection!

The procedure is to search the tip, and no, it’s not fun in any way.
North side crime, might have to start calling it ‘little Sydney’!
Meanwhile, down South in the valley, all is peaceful….
legal_chick86…what i am saying is they don’t have to go through any tip as the bins aren’t emptied till afternoon thursday and the police went through bins wed afternoon after finding the body.
i know…i live 100m from where it happened…

Please don’t come near my side of town. If you come here, you may get crimed in some horrible way. Just stay in the Valley and everything will be fine. Don’t even come here to visit anyone or anything like that. Just stay right where you are.

Did you happen to see the crime map provided a couple weeks ago… southside is just as bad as anywhere else!

I get what you are saying – the comments about the tip was a general comment as it lead me to wonder what happens if they did have to go to the tip.
