So has anyone got any idea what that small brown demountable building is that is on The Valley Avenue just before the Kate Crace Street intersection? We drove past about 9pm a few nights ago and there were a heap of cars parked around it but there appeared to be no lights on in the demountable and no sign of actual people. At other times we have seen lots of cars but no people and there are no signs. Just curious!! Is this a temporary mosque?

While we are on the subject of random demountables (or shipping containers) appearing…

Does anyone know what the collection of buildings are in the paddock adjacent to the Monaro Highway near the dog training school are? They have slowly (for about 2 years now) been multiplying – but with no indication of what they are there for….

Any clues?

I believe it is the new site for the model engineers who run the steam engine rides for kids (and grown ups) currently located next to the Railway Historical Museum in Kingston.
Apparently the ACT government is “re-locating” them.

The artist’s impression shows quite a nice looking building which, by the looks of the first turn out, is sorely needed.

Good to know.

Anyone know what the other, smaller demountable on Ernest Cavanagh St is about?

+1 to enrique

Anyone can fly off the handle or say stupid things.

Not many ever have the guts to come back and say they were wrong.

What on earth is going on with RiotACT today? This is the second post today that has me just flipping out with disbelief at the complete and utter ignorance and blatant obnoxiousness of the OP!

“demountable” “no sign of actual people” “lots of cars but no people”…”mosque”

How the F did you come to that conclusion?

Not very hard when it’s on/near the site of the proposed permanent mosque.

Many years ago when Gungahlin was still a young whippersnapper Gungahlin Lakes Club did the same thing on The Valley Ave opposite Bugmann school. The building is still there, it’s now a community hall available to the public to hire for parties and the like.

Oh the delicious irony.

I heard that it the bombmaking school that will be attached to the mosque – because we all know that’s the sort of thing that ‘islamiacs’ do. Not that I’ve got anything against ‘islamiacs’; I’m just worried about the parking situation in Gungahlin, honest……….seig heil!

Either that, or it’s Mr Gillespie’s new “Plastic Bag Alliance of Canberra” headquarters.

Nice overreaction by reply #1.

Perhaps, I apologise. It did come across as a troll though, I mean, for someone that didn’t have any context the question and the conclusion were leading toward something a bit offensive (i.e. why didn’t they conclude it was just a storage shed, or a development office, or something like that, or temporary christian church even?)

Yes, it is a temporary mosque on the site of the proposed mosque.
