Dickson apartment fire

Approximately 50 people have been evacuated this morning from the Coventry Apartments, Challis Street, Dickson, following an electrical fire in a hot water system.

ACT Fire & Rescue were notified from an Automatic Fire Alarm at 2.02am and quickly extinguished the fire in the commercial business on the ground floor of the four storey complex.

Minimal damage.

Residents above were evacuated as a precaution whilst crews conducted air monitoring and ventilation operations. Residents have now been allowed to return.

Two fire pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Hazardous Materials Unit and a Command Officer on scene.
