Parking in Woden – pre-paid vouchers no longer accepted

The carpark next to The Tradies in Woden has got signs up advising that prepaid (gov) vouchers are no longer accepted in the carpark (as it’s now been bought by someone pending developement).

Trouble is, they put the signs up on the machines today, but numerous users who already have prepaid vouchers (and therefor don’t go to the machines) have now been booked for not having a daily ticket.

Is it even legal to change the conditions of use without advance notice?

ACT Govt. have announced they’ll withdraw these fines due to the owner not giving sufficient notice.

for those who go stung, send an email to the Govt and the Tradies club.

no apparent notice of the changes is appalling and not acceptable in this day and age.

I for one won’t be visiting the tradies club anytime soon because of this.

I hear there are always plenty of free parking spots available in Power St, Mawson………..

Screw people who abuse parking inspectors. No one deserves to be abused simply for doing their job – especially when people’s rage is generally brought on by their own laziness and/or stinginess and/or stupidity.

And as if these jokers hadn’t been tasked to maximise the return with this change of ownership.

Seriously, who in Govco are so intent on receiving the kudos for making money that they are prepared to piss the public off with actions like this?

Yep – I got stung. It really was a prick of a thing to do. I am not sure when the signs went up, but I had not noticed them when I drove in this morning. It has been 15 years since I last got a parking ticket!

Given you have only bought a permit for use in ACT government car parks in general, not specific carparks, you have no recourse. You will just have to park in one of the other government carparks further away..

If they sell someone a weekly permit, and at the time of sale that permit could be used in the carpark in question, then during the period for which the permit is valid the area changes without notification, I’d like to think that some recourse is available.

So, if ACT gov are no longer administering that carpark, have Tradies put in their own machines? Are they providing their own parking inspectors? Or is it only a small subset (the permit issuing part) of the overall arrangement which has changed?

The Tradies have owned that carpark for ages, but it’s been run by the ACT Government on arrangement. The government terminated the arrangement recently (mentioned in the audit report that made the news last week), hence the signs going up.

Dickson tag replaced with Woden!

No you can’t edit posts once they’ve been approved.

Thanks!

The Dickson tag is a bit misleading too (I didn’t put that in, it seems to be system generated?)

I don’t seem to have the option to edit my posts, is that normal?

I’ll fix that up.

Your title was a bit long but there… Better now!

Gaa, title got lost…
