Dieci e mezzo roast beef roll

Dieci e Mezzo is on the ground floor of the ActewAGL building. It’s owned by the former Brumby star, Jeremy Paul, and the famous local restauranteur Fiona Wright.

As well as fine dining they do a range of rolls and sandwichs aimed mostly at ActewAGL employees who get a discount.

At $10 the roast beef roll is not the biggest you’ll ever see. And it’s not exactly over-filled compared to other, cheaper offerings around.

But it is of undoubted quality and the flavour balance of cress, relish, and the roast beef is very well thought out.

If you’re after a smaller roll, but with higher class fillings it’s probably worth checking out.

(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)

How come Fiona Wright couldn’t afford to pay tax? Ten bucks for a roll, slice of meat and a couple of sprigs of ‘erb means she pocketed (or sent offshore?) four bucks on top of standard profit out of that one roll.

Well, according to Wikipedia they have ceased operations in Australia so don’t hold your breath.

It’s an interesting reflection of just how the city has changed in a very short time.

Google need to update street view.
