Dinosaur Awesomeness in Kambah

Dinosaur of Kambah

Driving some lads home from a buck’s night last week, I was delighted to zip by what looked to be a smallish Tyrannosaur prowling outside the dinky little shops at Mannheim St in Kambah.

Over the extended weekend we wandered back to find it was a life sized Postosuchus, in Kambah! He is the “frontman” of Reptiles Inc’s retail outlet in Mannheim St in Kambah. Sadly the shop itself was closed and so it will take another trip to discover the herpetological treasures within.

Reptiles Inc moved in mid last year; they also took over the Reptile Zoo at Gold Creek and are evangelical in sharing their love of reptiles and amphibians at all sorts of events.

If only I had a reptile presentation on my 18th birthday, my life could have turned out very differently.

It’s good that that dinosaur is behind bars- who knows what havoc could be wrought on the general populace by a marauding monster! I shudder to think of the terrifying outcome!

Oh yeah, that’s Felix. He’s cool.

The little café next door is great too and gets busy on the weekend and each morning before work. It is also home to a zany bunch of locals. The café combined with reptiley goodness makes the Mannheim St shops much more interesting and vibrant than other dying local shops.

They also do cool kids birthday parties. The bloke that runs the place came out to my son’s party a couple of years ago and it was thoroughly entertaining for kids and adults alike.
Highly recommended, that’s if he still does parties.

Yep its a cool shop, my housemate works there and at times takes home and looks after a lot of the sick animals until they are back to good health. Household is filled with bearded dragons, turtles and all kinda cool animals.

Apparently the owner brought the dinosaur down from Qld on a car trailer. That would have been quite a sight…

I thinks it’s been there for more 6 months, OP, my missus bought her lizard from there and it must have been nearly 2 years ago because she’ll be eligible for her snake license by the July. It’s a cool little shop though, we now have 2 eastern long-neck turtles as well as a bearded dragon. And soon, SNAKES! 😀

The shop has been there for a while but the dinosaur was a more recent acquisition. The santa hat over Christmas was also fantastic.

He wore a santa hat over christmas. It’s a great little store. You can pat some lizards and turtles as well and the owner does education sessions out the back. That and the cafe next door have breathed some new life into what was a very tired set of shops.

Putting aside that dinosaurs weren’t reptiles and were more closely related to birds…

That’s a great statue. All shops should have a dinosaur or two. Or a bunyip! 😉

Yeah it’s an awesome little shop. I believe they were running it out of a house in Kambah before they moved into their current premises.
