Dismal failure at WIN News?

I like WIN news. I like its commitment to supporting local arts, and for providing a dedicated half hour local news bulleting.

But if you want to see cringe-making and miserable failure check out the above video. The expressions on the hosts’ faces are priceless.

It starts as a cringe and then about five minutes in you just can’t stop laughing.

It was posted by jmoul59 and comes with this caption: “Marathon technical problems on WIN Television’s Canberra news bulletin of 26 April 2010.”.

Anyone know what went wrong?

Yep, it looked like they couldn’t wait to get off the air. As already mentioned, at least they didn’t swear; unlike grumpy Kerry O’Brien did on the 7.30 Report one night when his autocue malfunctioned, and he thought his mic was off!

While not specifically a technical fault, why is it that these young reporters (like Lisa Mosley and Erin Molan) sound like they have recorded their voiceovers while taking a dump?

There’s no emotion at all in their voice, and it makes them sound like they’re reading from a bloody takeaway menu.

i turn over to ABC2 for dirty jobs now. Mike Rowe is more my cup of tea.

Looked up with a start when I heard “Whaddya mean we’re over two minutes?” during the ad break….

Same as most above – will still tune in here for local news nearly every night.

NickD, you forgot to mention the brown OTT suntan. Injecting melanin or just spending too long with an overenthusiastic makeup person?

5 minutes. 1:21 was where i started pissing myself.

I don’t know? I thought he was nice to look at, unlike some of the old ones they have on (I mean men).

Hahah yeah I watched this the other night as it was happening. Actually felt pretty sorry for the them both, especially the woman, you could tell at the end of it she was so glad for it to be over…

Lovebumps had it on in the background. We looked up when the sound stopped. It was a bit of fun watching SportGuy trying to react to the voice in his ear.

But why o why did Jessica apologise at the end? There’s no need! It’s like someone behind the bar dropping a glass. We’re all friends.

I dont care how many technical problems they have……….. i’ll still tune in to Jessica every weeknight regardless.

The all brown suit, shirt and tie combination just adds to the misery. Maybe the news reader lost a bet?

Ha! When things go wrong over there they really don’t hold back do they?
Lucky they didn’t say anything blue during the ad break…

Haha! Thats exactly what I thought during that break.

Anyone who’s ever worked in the news area will sympathise…

Reliance on automated systems and minimal staff on hand to fix problems, the same as most newsrooms these days.

Well that would explain one fault!

I’m guessing long weekend staffing didn’t help either.
