speedway sunday from 10 am

For anyone going to the speedway, be advised that Yass Rd is closed between the oaks estate turnoff and the train bridge just outside Queanbeyan for roadworks all weekend.

Did have. See, now I’ve missed it.

Three post nutbag.

Never mind – I did it myself.

Looks like the Majura Festival will have a jumping castle, market stalls, street performers, live music, a petting farm and wine tasting. There, doesn’t that sound just a little bit more interesting?

In recognition of its emergence as a significant local cultural event the festival continues to be successful in securing funding allowing NCS to celebrate its values of empowerment, inclusiveness and participation in the local community.

Instead of the public sector mission statement boilerplate, could you give us some sort of idea about what’s actually there? Rides? Food? Performances? Coz I can’t say I’m the slightest bit interested in going to watch “the active engagement (of the) local community and businesses in such a way that more ongoing, sustainable relationships continue to be established and celebrated”, or even imagine what that would look like.

Vintage fashion fair at the Albert Hall

I went this evening, it was quite interesting – picked up a few things that were a good price. It was pretty quiet in terms of the crowd, probably because the Albert Hall is covered in chemicals and the outside smells like a paint shop exploded. It’s nice once you get inside though. ^-^

Majura Festival

See you there!

24th October 2009 – Woolley St, DICKSON, ACT – 10am to 10pm

The Majura Festival has been run as an annual event by NCS since 2000. Since then, it has evolved to a visible cultural event signifying the close linkages that have developed between NCS and the local community. An emphasis has been to actively engage local community and businesses in such a way that more ongoing, sustainable relationships continue to be established and celebrated.

The Majura Festival aims to be accessible for all members of the community and encourages local schools, community organisations, businesses, professional performers and residents to get together and celebrate life in the Inner North of Canberra. In recognition of its emergence as a significant local cultural event the festival continues to be successful in securing funding allowing NCS to celebrate its values of empowerment, inclusiveness and participation in the local community.

Lawns in front of Parliament House
24 October 1.30pm

This Saturday won’t be like anything you’ve ever seen before.

In more than 170 countries, over 4000 actions will be taking place to highlight the important number 350.

The latest science tells us that 350 (parts per million) is the level of carbon dioxide that we need to fall below to have a chance of a safe climate (we are currently at 387), and a global campaign has been launched to get there: 350.org

Canberra’s 350 action, on the lawns in front of new Parliament House, will include a performance by comedian ROD QUANTOCK, with games, festivities and prizes for the best dressed (come as a polar bear, politician, polluter – anything)!

It’s called ‘GAMBLING WITH THE CLIMATE’ and it kicks off at 1.30pm! It’s fun, free, and everyone is welcome!

This Saturday, let’s all be part of one voice across the world for a safe climate!

Spread the word!
• Forward this email!
• Invite your friends on Facebook.
• Print off and hand around some (local or general) fliers.
• Spread the word using 350.org.
• Let your community know (work bulletin boards, school newsletters, etc)
