So it’s Thursday once again, so what’s going down in our fair city this weekend?

My personal pick will be to get out to Canberra’s biggest fun park which is Stromlo Forest Park, and build some more mountain bike trails with CORC. Trail building will be happening Saturday and Sunday. So if you’re keen to swing a shovel, or fire rake (the trail builder’s tool of choice), then check out the CORC website.

There’s a stack of Improvised theatre (i.e. Theatre Sports, Whose line is it anyway or Thank god you’re here type stuff) stuff over at the Street Theatre this weekend…

Saturday

Watch the gods of impro argue for theatrical legitimacy against the academics, the directors, the critics, in a comic event that could easily descend into a nasty bitch-fight!

Canberra Impro Theatre Challenge “Barbarians Heat”, $18/15, 8 – 10:30 pm

The last remaining Final spots are up for grabs as pesky out-of-town impro upstarts, like Sydney’s Scared Scriptless & previous winners from The Central Coast, take on runners-up from the Canberra Heat.

Sunday

The Challenge Forum, $8, 5:30 – 6:30pm

Impro legends from around the nation discuss their latest ideas with whoever wants to talk, illustrating their answers physically by improvising with each other and a selection of handpicked performers.Find out what impro is really all about or update your perceptions at this unusual event.

The 2007 Canberra Impro Theatre Challenge Final, $28/23, 7:30 – 10pm

The widest gathering of impro talent this side of…. well anywhere, really! Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Canberra, and qualifiers, battle it out for the Speaking Staff Trophy, $1000 cash, and the glory that is The Canberra Impro Theatre Challenge. Literally, the best improvised theatre you will ever see!
