CHW sent in this:

There will be a plant fair at Bellevale on Saturday and Sunday of this weekend – well worth the trip out near Yass!

LA singer/songwriter/performer Daniel McFeeley at Beyond Q in Curtin shops from 4.00 to 6.00pm.

This guy is amazing. His songs are clever, insightful, witty, often hilarious. If you haven’t caught him yet, take this opportunity to hear him in the intimate atmosphere of Beyond Q.

Whoops. Saturday. Sorry.

I wish we could edit.

“Apple Day” – The 21st Annual Open Day at Loriendale

Discover and enjoy – this afternoon has become an annual event for many Canberrans and an increasing number of people from interstate.

Take a drive into the country and discover the delights of freshly picked orchard fruit and enjoy an afternoon in a relaxed setting.

– Enjoy a range of organic foods – crepes served with Loriendale apple sauce and Devonshire teas served with delicious scones, muffins or cakes.
– Stroll through the orchard, complete with free range bantam hens foraging among the trees.
– Relaxing background music provided by local musicians and choirs.

I can’t wait to see Mikelangelo with Tin Star at the Phoenix on Sunday night. I’ve only heard good things about Tin Star and love Mikel in his other guises. Such a showman!

Tommy Tiernan – Designer WinoSaturday

Bookings & Enquiries: http://www.canberratheatrecentre.com.au/

Multi award winning Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan returns to Australia following his hugely successful sold out tour of Australia & New Zealand in 2010. His observations about life are offbeat and thoughtful but most importantly, he’s a tremendous storyteller. He will challenge, he will engage and he will definitely entertain.

Tommy has the highest selling DVD sales in Ireland and he is second only to U2 when it comes to live ticket sales there. This controversial comedian is fearless in his delivery and famous for his insightful and frank views on just about any topic.

In America, Tommy has been invited to perform three times on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ to rave reviews. His DVD ‘Something Mental’ has been aired numerous times now on America’s huge Comedy Network, Comedy Central as part of their popular ‘Secret Stash’ comedy slot and has now been viewed by over 3 million people.

On 1 April the Opera House will turn blue for Autism Awareness week. As the Grandfather of a fine boy at the top end of the scale, I haven’t seen any activities in Canberra. It is apparently National Young Peoples Week (?) with lots of events but how about the one in 160 kids who have to cope with Autism?

The Canberra wine harvest festival has the food and drink situation pretty well covered this weekend at most local vineyards.

Performing music exploring the sordid side of love with music inspired by carnal lust, women of the night, and tortured romance, and featuring stories from Ancient Greece to a surreal future. The program will include ballet music by Debussy and Khachaturian, dark inspiration from Beethoven and Mahler, seductive songs by Bizet, Sondheim, and Sting, with words by Oscar Hammerstein and Bob Dylan.”
