(aka thumpersbetterhalf)

Jey – ‘car thingy’ is the annual “Shannons Wheels” – on Sunday on Old Parliament House lawns. Usually pretty big as many of the (classic) car clubs in Canberra see it as their main event for the year. In particular check out the Canberra Region Morris Minor Club and EJ-EH Holden Club displays which are usually pretty impressive. Contact available here http://www.shannons.com.au/events/

Sorry going to do this again to clear ambiguities [coz the graphics did not attach]

PAINTED HEARTS GIG

PHOENIX Sat 11th MArch 9PM

In my subjective view this is probably the best new band I’ve seen in this town in the past 18 months…hence my ever increasing need to go to Melbourne to see things like Bonnie Prince Billy, Smog, Joanna Newsome, The Blackeyed Susans, Conway Savage [Bad Seed], Lambchop, Darling Downs etc…

Come and make up your own mind as to whether this band is any good…I think they are….and if we don’t see you there we’re going to assume you’re one of those pathetic desperados trying to pick up at the D&D Ball [instead of the crystallised social custom of 3AM at the Phoenix]

If you like what you hear put your name on the mailing list @ the gig for upcoming events [eg playing at the Victoria Hotel Rutherglen 18th March….the weekend of one of the wine festivals etc]

They’re also at Toast Saturday 25 March…8.30 start…drinks at Happy Hour prices until 10.00

And if you can be bothered dragging yourself away from basking in the Indian Summer on Saturday morning/arv at Gorman House and walking 100m or so there’s Holi Mela in Glebe Park

It’s March and it’s autumn time. The time is perfect to be coloured, to renew love,
and recharge your vitality in sync with nature. And this is what Holi says!

Alex Lloyd and Shrek? How do you tell them apart?

It is of course our fair city’s birthday on Sunday and the start of the Celebrate Canberra festival (though dates are slightly confused as to when that starts). The main event is the Part in the Park or whatever it’s called with Something for Kate, Beccy Cole, Alex Lloyd and Shrek at Stage 88 this Sunday.

Rally of Canberra. http://www.roc.com.au
Yay!!!

I’ll be at the Fall Ball dancing the night away. For those interested, I was told people who do the class beforehand will learn how to do a charleston and some of the variations on it.

I may as well chuck in a quick plug for “Lend Me a Tenor” – final three performances tonight and tomorrow (matinee and evening tomorrow), at Canberra Reperatory, Theatre 3 – The matinee tomorrow only costs $20, so book fast or face another sold-out house. Pretty much everyone who’s seen it seems to love it, so get in now or feel dejected ’cause you missed out.

Jumptown’s “Fall Ball at the Albert Hall” is on tonight (Friday) at the… well, Albert Hall 🙂 Live Big Band music (locals Spectrum Big Band are playing).

Tickets $35 at the door, introductory dance class at 7pm, Ball starts at 8pm.

Interesting to see something other than a rug sale or psychic expo at the Albert.

And who could forget the ACTION bus depot open day?

I think there is some kind of Multiple Birth association BBQ, party, fundraiser or something – and the Logan twins are the publicity for it.

Tonight (Friday) @ the Potbelly:

Cold Heart Projects
5th Ave Crazy
John Lollback (The Ashbury’s)

Starts @ 9.00 – $3

Anyone have any more info about the car thingy?
My partner may be interested

Brumbies could be snatching victory from the jaws of the Sharks, Canberra Stadium 7.00pm Saturday.

any particular reason Kerces? or did they just feel like an oj and feel the need to make a booking?

The Big Brother winners twins Greg and whatsisname Logan (or whatever they were called…) are going to be at Boost Juice in the Canberra Centre at an unspecified time on Friday.

Who could forget the desperate and dateless of Canberra? The D & D Ball is coming up on Saturday Night.

“A kick ass line up including Killing Heidi, The Casanovas, Clearway and special guest DJs Smash N Grab, DJ Josh, Jimmy Z and Adelaide’s finest.

Tickets include all alcohol and cocktail food, even a hot date if you want one!”(www.ticketek.com.au)

Your looking at $107.15 for a normal adult and $87.15 for a full-time student.

Canberra Off-Road Cyclists are promoting a 3 hour mountain bike race at Wagga which is being run by MTB Wagga.

heard there is a 600 odd historical vehicle show just offset from the ’embassy’ in front of Old Parliament House
