CORC (Canberra OffRoad Cyclists) is holding a Doownhill Mountain Bike race at Stromlo on Sunday. Practice run start in the morning from 9am, and the real action starts at 12:00. Get out there to race, or if you don’t have balls of steel then spectating is pretty cool too.

More info here CORC Downhill Calendar.

If you see a small guy in a dark corner wearing a beret & sunnies, and usually shorts in this weather, just holler “terubo” & I’ll come join ya!

Unfortunately we can’t change the group dynamic…

At this late a stage it’d be too hard to get the 10 odd people to agree to changing their plans for a stranger…

Meet ya at the Durham though

Not a bad idea as although very yummy the beers there are exy but as Iwouldn’t mind partaking of said beer but don’t finish work till 1700 (plus going home to get changed plus travel time to kingston) how about first beer at Durham and second beer at the belgium place about 1730-1745?

From 17:00 till we’ve finished griping about our relevant departments cock-up’s that week.

After community consultation, it has been agreed that perhaps we didn’t get the message through to all members of the Durham support network, and so we have compromised by only having one beer at the belgian bar, and then we are going to go back to the Durham this Friday.

Ok, Maelinar, Thumper, what time do you kick off and how long do these shindigs usually go for?

I spent some time staring at the poster for the Queer Film Festival outside Milk and Honey the other day waiting for a friend to get off the phone. Their website is here.

Also the Festival of Wine, Roses and all that Jazz (mainly a jazz festival) kicked off yesterday. Canberra’s had various jazz festivals over the years and I personally think it’s something we should have — if Moruya’s big enough for a jazz festival, why not Canberra?

As for signs beside the road, the week is brought to you by signs that are too small with too much information on them. There’s a Mercy Walk on Saturday 12-NOV-05 starting near the National Library I think but i’m not sure what cause it’s for. There’s the MICfest already mentioned on the site (guys you needed half the amount of info or double the size of sign to be read at 80kph) and there’s a fete somewhere.

Wipe away those tears!

In a shocking twist of events, the Friday night Durham crowd have decided to switch pubs in a one time only manoevure to check out the belgian pub down the road.

Ooh, Aah, do I hear you say ?

That’s right, in order to catch up with Maelinar and Thumper on Friday night, you’ll have to head on down to the belgian bar in Kingston for one night only.

SpringOut, Canberra’s Queer Pride Festival, kicks off tonight (Thursday) with the opening of the an art exhibition by local queer visual artists.
Friday features opening night of the Capital Queer Film Festival.
Saturday, there’s Fairday and Sunday, SpringLit.
All the deets here.
