Inner north community fair – hawdon st oval, dickson (is that just dickson oval?)

Come learn about the proposed wetlands for Dickson and Lyneham while sampling scrumptious, local and organic food and wine, and indulging your self in the work of local designers and artisans at the Inner North Community Fair, taking place from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, 16 May, at Hawdon Street Oval, Dickson.

The Fair, hosted by the Department of the Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water and supported by Canberra Musicians’ Club, will also feature…

* An enchanted wetlands area for the kids with unicorn rides, crafts, games, etc.
* Vibrant entertainers
* Indigenous dance and smoking ceremony
* Ephemeral Lounge. Sit back in a comfy arm chair, relax, read a magazine, or listen to…
* Live music provided by the Canberra Musicians’ Club and Ecopella
* Pre-loved clothes and other wares for sale
* A clothes swap (so bring some along!)
* Fashion parade featuring the 3 leading fashion houses in pre-loved apparel (Material Pleasures, House of St Vincent, and the House of Salvos)
* Recycling station (so bring your unwanted old mobiles, batteries, corks, even bikes!)
* Rumour has it that the Daleks may even make an appearance! (Being time travelers they probably have some interesting advice!)
* Come browse the many stalls and displays showcasing sustainable living ideas, from electric bikes and photo-voltaics, to gardening tips and chooks!

The Wetlands are a $13.9 million ACT Government initiative to improve water quality, enhance wildlife habitat and supply storm water to irrigate nearby sports grounds and schools to ease demand on potable water supplies.

JB it may be worthwhile re advertising a play called “Every Single Saturday” at the Tuggeranong Arts centre, which I attended tonight following a past advertisement on RA.

I understand further shows are scheduled for Friday 14 May and Saturday 15 May.

It was a very entertaining show, so funny, had realistic characters and the singing was fantastic.

It was short for those who need to get home to kids or have plans for after, commencing at 8pm and was concluding by 915pm. The storyline was original which made for a very pleasant evening.

Come and play some boardgames (euro style), all ages OK.
Event is free. Come and leave whenever you want. No need to bring anything.

Venue: Bierkeller, Harmonie German Club, Jerrabomberra Ave, Narrabundah
Date: Sunday 16 May 2010
Time: 11AM – 6PM

IMPORTANT: Please park at the back of the club and enter by the side door as the actual club is not open at this time. No lunch available this weekend at the club however Bar service will open from midday.
