… who chooses a helicopter as his preferred mode of transport.

So he’s a rich hippy with a whirlybird and no sense of hypocrisy?

Mustang Ranch is a porn shop in Molongolo Mall Fyshwick (up behind Athol Morris smash repairs on Newcastle St). They have a website and going off that this Naked Night is for gay men.

What the hell is the Mustang Ranch? Never heard of it..?

Steady Eddie10:58 am 15 Nov 08

Naked Night at Mustang Ranch this Tuesday, 7:30PM till late.

Gold Creek is also ok for family day out – teen girls can shop and the boys go into the bird aviary and the lizard display. Adults can sit in a cafe or the George Harcourt and relax. Cockington Green is out there too, although it is more for oldies and little kids.

– Discounts for most of those are in the Entertainment book too.

Last chance this weekend!
WILD PLACES: Photographs by Richard Green
09:00 – 17:00
Until Sunday, November 16, 2008
Visitor Centre, and 4th floor
National Library of Australia

Richard Green is a photographer who lives in Sydney. Retiring in 1987 from a career developing high tech conventions he now pursues his passion for landscape photography and for helicopters. He and his wife spend weeks at a time using their helicopter to access and then photograph remarkable remote areas of Australia. A benefit provided by the helicopter is that most of his images are of wild places never before photographed.

Green’s works are large colourful panoramic landscapes – usually over 2 metres in length. He merges multiple high resolution digital images to create each large, detailed and compelling photograph. Green is an active conservationist and lover of the bush and is concerned by the politics of commercialisation and the devastating effects of climate change.

Anyone have any ideas how to keep four boys under the age of ten, and two tween girls (all interstate family, I have no children) entertained in Canberra for the weekend?

Otherwise we can just set the girls loose on Manuka with their mothers, and send the boys to the War Memorial.

Questacon will keep everyone busy for half a day. I have taken my interstate visitors of similar ages and they absolutely loved it.

Music wise:Capital Dubs styles event, as said before, Andi & George , BoM, Majors Creek – too much to choose from!

No Merry Muse or Folkus Room this weekend as many of Canberra’s folk community relocates to Majors Creek for the duration: http://www.musicatthecreek.com — Culturazi readers can win two season passes valued at $140. Acts include locals The Ellis Collective, Fred Smith, Mr Fibby, DJ and the Karismakatz and the Ya-Yas, and from further afield, the sensational Ange Takats, the multi-instrumental Chris Aronsten, the vocally deft Triantan, and the ‘rip the stage up’ energy of The Go Set. Last night went off with a bang, and tommorow and friday should be as good. Great responses from the audience last night.

🙂

manuka’s not that great for the tween girls, try maybe the city instead? theres a lot more teen oriented stores (chain stores that is) plus the dendy cinemas and plenty of coffee stops. the mothers would be ok in manuka though. its closer to the AWM too.
i def second the cotter idea though.

This Sunday there is a cruise for charity (cars motorbikes, horse-and-carriage, whatever you want) to raise money for the new born intensive care unit.

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=38942143059&ref=mf

Meeting point is the carpark of Phillip Ice Skating rink, then drive (well, ‘cruise’) out to the Cotter for a big BBQ.

Have a look at the facebook page linked for details and more info – looks like a great cause and probably a pretty good time too.

Pack them off to the National Science Centre, lots of interesting stuff there for kidlets to do, then maybe the museum and the AWM or Cockinton Green and the Dinosaur Park.
