So let us turn to the hive mind once more.

What do you know about that will be fun for the public to turn up to this weekend?

Just leave it in the comments.

I’m going to try and take a picture of the pillar at the corner of Garema Place and Bunda St (looking towards City Walk) every Thursday morning, here’s the first.

Bush Babies are running a free information session: Better Birth Choices
Saturday 19 July from 10:30am
Canberra’s doulas (professionally qualified in birth support) will talk about birth choices in Canberra, and provide tips on having a better birth experience (including pain management).

Friends of the Birth Centre will also be there, supporting the Canberra Midwifery Program and the homelike birth environment at the Birth Centre. (I think they’re doing a cake stall.)

Venue is Corroboree Park Functions Room, Corroboree Park, Ainslie.

Doors open half an hour before talk starts. Corroboree Park is a great place to play after.

Tea and coffee provided. Talks usually run for around 45 minutes, with plenty of time to chat before and after.

Nice idea, photographing the poster pillar. You’ll preserve some really original posters over time, I’m sure.

Doctor Stovepipe & The Wedded Bliss on Friday

Merry Muse (David St O’Connor)
starts 8pm

If you want to avoid the queues for THE DARK KNIGHT, but still want to see a good flick, either join the ANU Film Group this Saturday to see PRINCE CASPIAN followed by the late show of HEY HEY IT’S ESTHER BLUEBERGER (Semester 2 memberships now on sale at the door), or cruise on by the National Film and Sound Archive to check out Brian de Palma’s (CARRIE, THE UNTOUCHABLES) latest film REDACTED, a unique take on the Iraq war. I’ll be splitting my time between both.
