Read below for more info on this fabulous duo!

Nicola Hayes & Hélène Brunet have been making music together for ten years. Their energy and commitment to their music make them two of the most sought after performers of the buzzing Breton music scene. Their first album, “Travelling”, was released in September 2011, to an enthusiastic response from reviewers and public alike.

Drawing on their respective backgrounds in traditional music: their ardent take on Irish jigs and reels, Old-timey breakdowns and Cajun two-steps summon audiences into a universe where “the only proper way to react to the inner animal’s tunes is to dance to them”.

Australian fiddle player Nicola Hayes was a member of Melbourne bands Headbelly Buzzard and the Le Blanc Brothers’ Cajun Aces. She moved to Brittany in 2000, and currently plays with highly regarded Breton-speaking singer-songwriter Dom Duff; as well as Ceol Street – a fabulous new Irish music group on the Breton scene; centre-breton bluegrassers the Jack Danielle’s String Band; and Cajun band Hushbaby.

Hélène Brunet plays the laúd, a Spanish 12-string lute, acoustic and electric guitar. An adventurous and sensitive accompanist, her unique style makes her one of Brittany’s most highly regarded players today. Her latest projects include composing and performing music for poetic equestrian theatre company the Cheval Rouge.

Nicola & Hélène have a rare on-stage complicity, fruit of their years of playing in Brittany’s clubs, pubs and concert halls. Their humour, musicianship and obvious respect for the sources of their music make for an appealing voyage into their highly coloured musical world.
