Canberra Nara Candle Festival on This Weekend
When: Saturday 26 September (3pm – 9pm)
Where: Canberra Nara Park – Lennox Gardens (on the lake’s edge behind the Hyatt Hotel)
FREE ENTRY

Enjoy the spectacle of more than 2000 shimmering candles at the Canberra Nara Candle Festival to be held this Saturday 26th September in celebration of the 16th anniversary of our Sister City Relationship with Nara, Japan.

This festival of friendship and goodwill offers plenty of free family entertainment including the world-class Taiko drumming troupe TaikOz, performing with Riley Lee, grand Shakuhachi player. The Manpuku Band, Narrabundah College and Yosakoi Dance group are just some of the fantastic performers who will feature at this year’s Candle Festival.

Activities such as lantern making, calligraphy, origami, kite flying and face painting will provide hours of entertainment for the kids and visitors will be able to browse the stalls selling beautiful Japanese handicrafts all day.

Not to be missed is the delicious range of Japanese cuisine, including sushi, yakitori and gyoza dumplings.

Enjoy the Official Candle Ceremony from 6.30pm followed by the lighting of more than 2,000 candles in Canberra’s Nara Park.

Parking is available in the parliamentary zone, with a free shuttle bus running every 15 minutes to Nara Park.
