The last weekend of Winter is upon us, and looking out my window it looks to be a great day to start it early despite the doom and gloom predicted by the Bureau of Meteorology who tell me we’re in for some rainy periods from late tonight.

What’s worth seeing and doing around town this weekend?

Local legends LAMEXCUSE’s final show TONIGHT!!! With:

The Quickening return for a quick run of shows to promote their 2nd studio album, White Blossoms – a 9 track serving of killer melodic metal. Kicking the trip off in Canberra, they’re joined by Sydney’s The Optionals and Mr Vengeance in support of local popadm/punk heroes Lamexcuse at the Basement in Belconnen.
This Canberra show is a celebration of all things punk, from the high-melody, ‘fat wreck chords’ style of Lamexcuse, through the Descendants/Seaweed-esque husky-punk of The Optionals; from the hard-edged, erratic guitarmonies of Mr Vengeance, to the classic metal mega-beat epics of The Quickening that have made them an underground favourite throughout the country, any self-respecting punk fan would be crazy to miss out.
