In the hotbed of cultural activity that is the nation’s beating heart we come to ask a simple question:

What’s going on this weekend?

If you’ve got a suggestion for something to see and do around Canberra please leave it in the comments.

Yeah, you can watch it at home on SBS, but there’s nothing like being among a (hopefully) large partisan crowd.

Correction: The Slam at the Front tonight will be hosted by Miranda Lello and Ryan Schipper.

Come along and enjoy round 2 of Captain of the Rant!

The Front has a poetry slam tonight apparently featuring the return of The Captain of The Rant from the UK.

Venetian Twins performs 4 times over the weekend – Tonight and tomorrow at 8pm, plus 2pm matinees Saturday and Sunday. A musical-comedy-commedia-farce-swashbuckle-slapstick-opera-a-thon that critics have called ” an evening where you can just relax and laugh your head off”, and “a unique mix of Commedia, ocker humour, and farce which I found totally delightful”. Also runs next week Weds-Sat.

Transmission begins 11:30 08062012:
Join us at the Front Gallery and Cafe for open mike and poetry slam. This months feature performer is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Captain-of-the-Rant/76083724774 Captain of the Rant, from the UK.

The night kicks off with a no rules open mic

the slam will follow, 3 minutes, no props music and must be your own composition. There will be prizes, but more importantly there’ll be an audience to listen to your words!

Hosted by Varisht Gosain And Josh Inman, grab a coffee or a wine and settle in for some entertainment, after all, the slam is better than your existing plans… and quite possibly your existence…
