Elite Physique is on the corner of Townshend and Botany St, Phillip on the upper level where the Athenian Restaurant used to be a few years ago and where Honey’s nightclub was in the 1980s.

Bush Fire Awareness Week is all about helping residents and their families survive a bush fire. The local RFS brigades in conjunction with ACT RFS/ESA will be showcasing its many talents to the public. The local Gungahlin RFS brigade will welcome the public on Saturday, 30th October to experience the wide range of skills and services performed by more than 500 volunteers in the ACT.

Dedicated local RFS volunteers will be available to inform people in the community how best to prepare themselves for the upcoming fire season. Brigade members will set up displays to give people practical advice about bush fires and what to do to prepare their property.

Professionally trained men and women will be conducting demonstrations, assisting residents to complete their Bush Fire Survival Plan and educating the community about the new-look Fire Danger Meter.

A number of other organisations will be attendance with the Gungahlin RFS brigade:

– AFP
– ACT Ambulance Service
– ACT Fire Brigade
– Australian Red Cross
– ACT branch ‘Picking Up The Pieces’
– Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter (Arr 1200 Dep 1400)
A free sausage sizzle will be cooked by our local Lions club. and Cafe D’Roamer will be on hand to cater for our coffee drinkers.

Then the Fitz’s challenge is for you. Your choice of pain, 206, 160, 105 or the measly 50km challenge.

You can register on the day & it is entirely up to you how far or how hard you go. Its all about the challenge.

It’s going to be a good day this year, last year it was 31 degrees.

Talks both days plus demonstrations of tool sharpening, using a scythe and worms and compost.
