QL2 Theatre, Gorman House, Ainslie Avenue Braddon

Over the next three days, a number of highly skilled performers from all over Australia will be presenting a series of public performances which will delight, amaze and astonish; each work made on the spot, without preparation, before your very eyes. How do they do it?

As usual being the first Sunday of the Month:

Come cheer on the green machine, they still need a win on Sunday to guarantee their spot in the Top 8 to play in the Semi’s.

Raiders Vs Bulldogs

Under 20’s I believe is at 11.45am Kick Off.. !

The Raiders are having an open training session saturday morning from 10am to 12 at Canberra Stadium.

Probably a little late notice but…

Cross Dress for Red Cross is on tonight.

It’s time to throw aside your normal daily attire and swap it for that of the opposite gender. You could be Marilyn Monroe, Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, your favourite sports player or you could make up your own unique character for the day – the options are endless.

On Friday 5 September come and be a part of the Cross Dress for Red Cross Frocktails & Fashion Parade. You will receive a glass of champagne on arrival, finger food and the chance to win the 2008 Cross Dress for Red Cross best dressed award.

Tickets on sale now. $20 gets you entry, champagne on arrival, nibbles throughout the night and lots of entertainment!

Phone reception on 6234 7600, or buy your tickets at the door.

What are you doing for Father’s Day this Sunday? Do something different and take him planting!

Join the ACT Government and Greening Australia in planting a section of Stromlo Forest Park, Canberra’s world class cycling facility. Dad can have a sleep in AND plant trees, as the site is close to town and we kick off at 10:00am.

When? This Sunday 7 September, 10:00am to 12:00noon, followed by a delicious lunch

Where? North-western corner of Stromlo Forest Park, off Uriarra Road

How to get there? CAR POOL OR CYCLE! Turn right onto Uriarra Road via Cotter Road (if travelling from South Canberra) or Coppins Crossing Road (if travelling from North Canberra), then continue past the main vehicle entrance to Stromlo Forest Park on your left. The planting site is approximately 2km past this entrance on your left. Look for Greening Australia directional signs.

What to bring/wear? Hat, sunscreen, long sleeves, gloves, long pants, enclosed footwear, spade or mattock (only if you are driving), water bottle

What to expect? Reasonably flat terrain, a few weeds, views to the Brindabellas, and a beautiful spring day (Fine, partly cloudy, Min 0 Max 16)

RSVP essential: Phone 6253 3035 or email admin@act.greeningaustralia.org.au

Photographic exhibition in a disused train carriage at the Kingston Railway Museum opening 4 – 6pm Saturday! Its part of a worldwide project where exhibitions are held in places other than galleries, and artists come along to hang their work on the night DIY style.

For the woodworking enthusiasts the Timber and Working with Wood show is on at EPIC this weekend.

Blues jam at PJs in Tuggeranong on Sunday at 2pm. Chris Harland Band will preside.

Frequently Asked Questions is playing smooth jazz & lounge at Casino Canberra on Friday 5th Sept from 9pm, by the main bar.

And if that doesn’t satisfy the tuba cravings, the Kransky Sisters are at the Canberra Theatre on Saturday night.

Friday @ Transit Bar – UG BEATS. Free entry!

Gonna be good with locals Buick (reigning ACT DMC Turntablist Champion), Rubicon and Exit along with the usual Jemist, Pornstylus and Alistair on one of his sojourns back from Sydney!

Thank god Transit sells Magners Cider.. mmm.

Saturday – recovering from UG BEATS and helping moving a housemate out. Just the thing to do after a big night of drink and dance… ¬_¬

Monday: Hosting ‘Trivia in the Trams’ at the Tra dies Club in Dickson. Rego from 7pm, quiz 7.30pm-9.30pm. Cash and voucher prizes. Free entry. Half-way into the trial period on this one, so I’ll take any support you’d like to give by way of your presence. The mega schnitties may be a thing of the past, but I can highly recommend their caesar salad with extra anchovies.
