As the heat has ramped up (turned the fan on for the first time last night!) I’m sure so has the summer-ry (late spring?) activities.

Think Tank Music Festival is on today at UC Refectory- Daysend, Lord, Frankenbok, Vee Bees etc. Money goes towards the National Brain Injury Foundation. The event raises awareness for the dangers of drink driving. Doors at 3pm

Tori Amos @ Canberra Theatre tomorrow (Sunday) night

Artsound FM’s annual fund-raising Radiothon continues all this week and culminates in the Open Day.

Live music, book and vinyl and CD and video sale, food, great coffee, wine, tours of the studios.

The Harmonie German Club from 11AM to 6PM on Sunday (15 November).
49 Jerrabomerra Ave, Narrabundah. Park around the rear and enter through the side door as the main club is not open at this time.
The bistro is open for lunch but there will only be limited bar service.

Come and go as you please, no need to bring anything. All ages OK.

The theme for this month’s contest is the Melbourne Cup. The prize is a

In April 2008, Rafe took his guitar and his girlfriend and left Australia in search of adventure, deliciousness and cheap T-shirts. 587 days, 21 countries, 3 new scars, countless kebabs, a new wardrobe and heaps of new songs later, he’s coming home to share stories and songs with his favourite city.

Along with two of his favourite singer songwriters, Drew Walky and Guillaume Soloacoustic, and Dub Dub Goose, a band which he has been dying to hear, Macgregor Hall will be filled with music, laughs, smiles, drinks and other heart warming things.

When : Saturday, Nov 14. Food and drinks from 6.30pm, music from 8pm.

Where : Macgregor Hall, Corner of Barry Drive and Marcus Clarke St, Civic, Canberra.

How : $12 for those who can afford it, $8 for those who can’t.

Adoption Mosaic (a Canberra-based adoption support group) are hosting a forum for anyone affected by or interested in adoption.

When: Sunday, 15 November
Time: from 1.45 pm
Where: The Southern Cross Club in Woden.
Tickets cost $15 and are available at the door (cash only).

Some of the guest speakers are:

Evelyn Robinson – A birth mother whose son was adopted. She is an Adelaide-based post-adoption counsellor in private practice, and the author of two books on adoption, “Adoption and Loss – The Hidden Grief” and “Adoption and Recovery – Solving the mystery of reunion”.

Gary Coles – A birth father whose son was adopted 38 years ago. He wrote a book called “Ever After – Fathers and the Impact of Adoption”. He is also the Manager of VANISH (the Melbourne-based post-adoption services organisation).

Professor Tom Frame – Director of St Mark’s National Theological College, adult adoptee and author of “Children on Demand: The Ethics of Defying Nature” and “Binding Ties: an Experience of Adoption and Reunion in Australia”.

Margaret Green – Facilitator, adult adoptee.

Ann James – Ann is an experienced teacher and counsellor, has run a variety of workshops on personal development for the general community and adoption agencies, and has made presentations at Australian Adoption Conferences. She is the author of “Choosing Inner Peace – The Duality of Love & Loss Within Adoption” and “Teddy Bear in the Corner”.

Dr Jennifer Andrew – Inter-country adoption parent.
