There seems to me to be an awful lot happening this weekend around town.

Let us know in the comments.

XX’s first fundraiser for this year is our very own Nicholas J. Johnson’s How to Cheat Friends and Incriminate People.

The special 2XX version of the show is on at 9pm Saturday 25th February at the Street Theatre. To book your ticket, contact us on 62 300100 or email to info@2xxfm.org.au. Cost is $15 per person – why not book a table with a few friends. Pre-show drinks start from 8pm, it’s sure to be a great night!

Will your join in our crusade so that the banner may advance? Some will fall and some will live, will you stand up and take your chance?

Les Mis starts at the Canberra Theatre this weekend – although I think tickets have sold out for the first week and nearly sold out for the 2nd and third weeks so everyone get in there and get your tickets!!!

Too many friend’s bands playing at different venues in one night.

Friday night choice 1. Schmooze at Toast, The Ashburys, Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens, Konrad Lenz, Hancock Basement.

Friday night Choice 2: Angency Dub Collective at the ANU.

And I’ll get it started:

Friday night, as discussed elsewhere, is the Monster Schmooze and impromtu RA gathering at Toast. There’s also the short::seasons summer films showing at the new museum at 7pm and jazz band the Palermo Express playing Garema place.

Saturday brings for me the Royal Canberra Show (and no 21st party — simply amazing). In the evening, The Maltese Falcon is showing in Garema Place. There’ll also be (most likely) a plethora of DJs playing around the place, which I’ll find out all about tomorrow.

Sunday is Tropfest day with the finalists’ films showing at Stage 88 from 7.30ish, with entertainment there from 5pm. Ex-Canberran Leon Ford, who I know as Dishpig in The Cooks, has a film that’s made it into this top 12. In the afternoon the John Gould Orchestra, which I have never heard of but is apparently a youth ensemble, is playing at the new museum.
