Dob in those dodgy guns

Simon Corbell is letting us know about a new police campaign aimed at getting guns out of the hands of Canberra’s lackwitted criminal fraternity before they hurt themselves (a far greater risk than hurting anyone else):

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Simon Corbell, today launched a new campaign aimed at removing illegal firearms from Canberra’s streets and out of the hands of criminals.

“The ACT Government is offering rewards of up to $5000 for information which results in the seizure of an illicit firearm or the successful prosecution for a firearms related crime,” Mr Corbell said.

“While the number of offences where guns are used to commit crimes has fallen in the ACT, we are aware of the issues experienced in other jurisdictions in relation to illegal gun activity, and this campaign is an opportunity to begin to address this concern in the ACT.”

It is in act of exceedingly fine political calibration to claim the problem is not a problem, and declining anyway, while launching a new campaign to address it.

Excellent work AFP, an initiative aimed at illicit/illegitimate/illegal firearm use and possession.
Also I like the use of the reward; I think we should pay snitches more often make a cottage industry out of it.

Oh…, um, I dropped it in the river while boating to some perfectly legal hunting during duck season. Or rabbit season. The sign was ambiguous.

Guns don’t kill people, only people who say “Guns don’t kill people” do

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned who knows where you stash your illicit firearms. Especially if vengeance comes with $5000.

LOL +1 – but i am guessing they don’t have guns then, otherwise they would all be dead, or missing limbs
