Dodged water in belco ?

So, I got home today and found the toilet water somewhat yellowed. Initially I thought maybe I had let it mellow from this morning, but I was then advised that the water had been somewhat yellow in Latham also.

I investigated our tap water a bit more and found it did in fact have a slight tinge.

Has anyone else noticed similar ?

Probably caused by the lunar eclipse/blood-red moon thingy the other night

Or gorebull warmening

I heard there was a Phantom pisser breaking into houses and not flushing!

there was a burst major line in belco apparently. Probably silt and crap from the break

I understand there’s two ways this usually happens:
Firstly (and most likely) if they break a water main, some dirt & soil always manages to get into the water main. Although they attempt to flush the line, the surrounding area will usually have slightly discoloured water for a little while.

The second reason is if the water level in the local water resivoir drops too much (they might be doing maintenance on the pumps or something), you start to get some of the silt off the bottom.

I took a leak in Corin dam once.

Welcome to Water2water: recycled piss and shits.

We get slightly yellow water about once a month in the Lanyon valley. I was told once by an insider in ACTEW that there is “something odd” with the Banks reservoir. Probably unrelated to what’s hapenning to you though.

According to ACTEW, other possible causes are water tankers and fire brigade using hydrants. But that would only affect a limited area near the hydrant. And of course pipe maintenance in the area.

We had it too in Flynn. I was very glad that the cat was drinking it and not me. Any explanations, anyone?

(I also noted it, less yellow than up north, at work near the airport).
