There’s a book on the Molonglo Interment Camp. Written by local historian Alan Foskett, it’s called “The Molonglo Mystery : a unique part of Canberra’s history”. It is out of print. There are copies for loan in the ACT public libraries. He’s just published a supplementary volume (July 2008) “More about Molonglo : the mystery deepens”.

I dont think that it is near the ranch WBJ (are you trying to tell us something?) as i have found the remains of the old buildings up the back of the old junkyard. It pays to compare maps made in the 30’s, 40’s and 80’s and look for the differences in terrain.

They kept the Italians down south somewhere, you can take your kids camping there.

This ww2 camp was at Blue Range off the Brindabella Road.

Thanks paddytrick that link is very interesting. I am more interested in the Langwarrin camp and the incident where an internee was shot during WW1. Contradicts the version I heard as it lists him as a sailor where I heard he was a baker.
And internment camps were referred to as “concentration camps” which given the local conditions and the use of tents probably describes it perfectly but luxurious compared to life at the front.

Nice to see that the ACT Heritage Library badges it as a “Concentration Camp”. A great achievement for the moral equivalence brigade and Holocaust deniers alike.
