Hello riot-act!

I’m moving back to Canberra on a very small budget in about 2 weeks. Unfortunately I will be without a permanent address to house my medium sized dog until January.

Does anyone have any suggestions of places to keep her on a budget for about 2 months?

Thanks for your time!

I would be happy to look after your pup as long as it’s not a barker and is happy with “apartment” living (I have a courtyard) and walks once a week, and gets on with my dog. Obviously you cover all costs. The boarding kennels have discount fees for long term boarders so ring around, but if you’re keen to chat to me, let me know 🙂

Please tell me the dog gets more walks than once a week? or is it a typo and week is meant to be Day….

Boggles, I would offer but I have 2 dogs already, 3 would be a bit much as i am also looking after 2 cats at that time of the year.

Hope you find something/someone.

You probably won’t have much luck getting your dog in a commercial boarding kennel over Christmas/New Year period. Most places are usually booked out at least 6 months in advance for that time of year.

In a previous life I knew someone who used to work at Domestic Animal Services. They have people who like dogs that come and excercise and play with the detainees.
Perhaps one of these people might want to board your dog for a while.
Also, I believe there are organisations who foster dogs for rehab and rehoming purposes.
A suitable donation may make their services an option for you and you get to keep your dog as well.
RSPCA Comms are also regular readers here and may offer further options.

Any friends that might mind looking after Fido?? YOu could pop round each day for walking and feeding, annoying I know but prob the best for your fur child!
