Dog grooming

Hello RiotACT, I was wondering if anyone knew any good (cheap) places to have the nails of one’s dog clipped.

I was thinking of going to the local veterinarian (in Weston creek) but I heard that I can simply go to a dog groomer and I thought that this may be cheaper since they specialize in this kind of thing.

I have small toy fox terrier and her nails are getting a bit long for the wooden flooring.

I took my toy poodle to Capital dog groomers, I didn’t think much of them for the price, if the old owners are back that’s good, it was almost a year ago when I took my dog.

Oh I thought this topic was similar to “child grooming” and was going to be disgusted and write a hilarious retort. 🙁

Will have to go back reading about bogans then.

Fancy feathers and fur in Kippax on Hardwick crescent will do nails on the spot for $10. No appointment necessary

I have tried a few, I would recommend Nicky, she comes to your home for $60.00, need to book early, numbers are 62317421 or 0417202907 Doggy Day Spa.

We take our dogs to Dogs Best Friend at Ainslie shops. They do a good job and seem to like the dogs. Never had their nails clipped but they’re big dogs and a thorough haircut costs $100 which (while insanely expensive) is cheaper than most of the other grooming places around town.

We used Small Friends, the vet in Amaroo, for our Jack Russell.

Though they did mention the same thing as MsCheeky said – walking him regularly on the footpath should be enough to keep them manageable, and that’s been true over the last six months since.

We were reluctant to do them ourselves, our pooch has a couple of dark colored nails so its hard to see where the “too far in” point is.

Don’t use ‘Monaghan’s Mongrel Maintainence’ – i’ve heard dodgy things about them.

Purple Pooch Parlour in Spence does my dogs nails as part of her grooming.

It’s a very easy job to do yourself. You can buy specialised clippers that have a guard that prevents you clipping too far in. If I recall correctly, I bought mine for just a few dollars at one of those $2 type shops.

Walking the dog on footpaths or roads will also help keep the nails short and toughen up the pads a bit, which is a good thing.

Capital Grooming at Chiefly Shops. Highly recommended by the poodle and the kelpie.
