ACT Fire & Rescue are currently on scene at a structure fire in the suburb of Melba.
Three fire pumpers and a command vehicle are on scene. Crews are currently extinguishing the blaze.
A pet dog was rescued from the blaze and is being assessed by ACT Ambulance Service Intensive Care Paramedics.

The fire that started in a two story residence in Bainton Crescent, Melba, has now been extinguished.
ACT Fire & Rescue believe the blaze started in a bedroom and was contained to the area of the home.The family pet dog has been assessed by ACT Ambulance Service and is doing well. It is currently being cared for by neighbors.
The home was unoccupied at the time crews arrived on scene.
Investigations will soon begin into the cause of the fire.

The man who rescued a dog from the residential fire in Melba was an off duty ACT Fire-fighter, who lived in a neighborring property.
9 week old Sebastian, a Shih Tzu-cross puppy, was rescued by the off duty Fire-fighter shortly after he reported the blaze to Emergency Triple Zero (000).
Sebastian (the puppy) was treated by ACT Ambulance Service Intensive Care Paramedics. He received rescue treatment oxygen before being deemed to be in a healthy condition.
ACT Fire & Rescue have commended the off duty Fire-fighter for his commitment to helping his community and his bravery for rescuing the young pup.
