Dog Sitters in Canberra?

I would like to know if anyone can recommend a company/person who provides dog sitting services in Gungahlin/Belconnen area for when we go on vacation.

Our only requirement is that it be an in-home provider (their home, not ours), someone who has their own small dogs, secure location, and keeps the dogs inside.

We don’t think a kennel is a suitable environment regardless of whether they claim to be ‘luxury’ kennels, but that is all I seem to be able to find.

I realise this is an old post but I am looking for this service in Belconnen/Gungahlin so I thought I’d respond on the off-chance you are still searching.

Maybe we could help each other as I have a small indoor dog who is ‘special’ and probably wouldn’t cope with the stress of kennels.

Failing that, is there anyone who could recommend a dog sitter in their own home?

Give Fur Faces a call. They are who we always use. Cover off letter box, papers etc too.

That doesn’t sound like a service at the minder’s own home?

I think Don’t Fret Pet was the one I saw an ad for. Pricey indeed, but I’d never send my dog to a kennel or leave her home alone. I’m lucky enough to have a friend who is the perfect dog minder though.

We use Don’t Fret Pet – just google that name. The service provided is a bit pricey, about $40 a day, but you can rest assured that your dog will be well looked after and to your specific requirements.

Minders are vetted thoroughly with in-home visits and get a rating based on their frequency of use and type of home etc. We have a minder through this service who we use all the time now, although our dog has stayed all over canberra in our efforts to get him cared for properly. Its mostly people who had dogs and still love them but don’t want a full time pet. Service is administered from Sydney but they are looking for franchisees everywhere.

I suppose if you get a good relationship going with the carer you can then decide if you approach them outside of the service…this is against the terms of the contract of both parties…but that’s a decision that you both make….

I recently came across an ad somewhere that was just about this service, but cannot find it again. A Google did bring up this: http://sydney.topdogminders.com/ They claim to serve the ACT region as well.
