Dozspot to end bullying?

The Liberal Steve Dozspot’s pom pom girls often ascribe amazing powers to him.

But his latest media release suggests he too subscribes to this thinking.

The headline promises a great deal:

DOSZPOT TO TACKLE BULLYING IN ACT SCHOOLS

A tall order for a shadow minister. And through what mechanism is he going to solve a problem that’s been with us for the entire history of education?

Shadow Education Minister Steve Doszpot will meet with his NSW counterpart next week to discuss bullying in schools across both jurisdictions.

That’ll fix it. I wish someone had thought of that before now.

At least he’s actually focussing on it and not ignoring it unlike his ‘counter part’.

At least Doszpot is trying. It’s more than can be said from some of he others (from all three sides). We’re also starting to notice he does stuff wihtout needing a pic in the paper for it.

+1 If he dind’t do anyhting he’d be accused of, well, doing nothing. Why does he take a position on so may issues? Well, why should eh focus on just one? At least they’re all in his shadow area of responsibility. Good on him!

So it would be better that he actually did nothing?

How is he doing anything?

Bullyman?

great role model, bullying the bullies into not bullying…

Uber bullies, you mean?

Uber bullies in an uber school.

I was thinking more in a cape and underpants on the outside sort of thing. They could come pelting in on razr scooters with Billie Piper blaring and invoke the wrath of the abused, lazy and nerdy in one swoop on unsuspecting meanies.

So it would be better that he actually did nothing?

“It makes no never mind”, as my dear old mother would say, hot air and nothing cost about the same…

So it would be better that he actually did nothing?

Depends. How much is this going to cost?

I am however very interested to see what a shadow Minister can achieve. Especially one that rolls from issue to issue as frequently as Mr Doszpot. What’s next on his hit list?

To do list;
a) Water into wine.
b) More rain for Canberra.
c) Pigs to be able to fly.
d) Simon Corbell to get a decent haircut. Stick with the possible.

Spot on Pommy, well done.

1. I like Simon’s haircut. Leave him alone.

2. At least Doszpot is trying. It’s more than can be said from some of he others (from all three sides). We’re also starting to notice he does stuff wihtout needing a pic in the paper for it.

3. We have uberbullies for our uberschools already – DET.

I think a harder line on bullying is needed. Bullying was rampant where I went to school, and was typically solved only when the bully was too scared to bully others.

This leaves 2 options:
1) Threaten the bully with something nasty; or
2) Remove them from the school and put them with the other loser kids. Let them learn beekeeping or something that keeps them away from the kids that want to learn, and teaches them that when they jerk around, they get stung.

What he should do is create a force of super bullies, who go around kicking the groins and shins of other known bullies in schools.

Better than doing nothing about it.

Does this mean that Mr Doszpot, as ACT Opposition person, will be talking to his NSW counterpart, the NSW Opposition Shadow Minister on Education- Adrian Piccoli, the National Party member for Murrumbidgee. Obviously, some earth-shaking initiatives will emerge from this meeting of titans …

to be fair, the despot will ‘tackle’ bullying; didn’t say he’d ‘end’ it…

at least someone has a focus on this. it can be a debilitating issue for the victims and their families, especially when courts do little; if you can get that far.

Um i don’t think that the staff handling a so clalled ‘forced’ merger is a factor here. bullying has existed in schools long before Kingsford Smith School did.

The CT put this in the context of bullying at the new superschool at Holt. Apparantly a staff comprising 50% new teachers doesn’t quite have the experience of managing the forced merger of two closed primary schools.
