ACT Policing has charged a 28-year-old Charnwood man with drink driving and reckless driving offences after a collision in Macgregor on Saturday morning (September 27).

About 4.50am, Belconnen Patrol members attended a residence in Marcus Faunce Street, Macgregor, following a report of a male trespassing at that property. On arrival, police saw a white Toyota Camry parked nearby with its break lights on. The vehicle soon left the area, driven in an erratic manner, and police lost sight of the vehicle.

A short time later, the Toyota Camry left the road at the intersection of Cannan Crescent and Mcafarlane Burnet Crescent and collided with a fence.

Belconnen Patrol members attended and apprehended the 28-year-old male driver of the vehicle. He then underwent a roadside breath test with indicated a positive result. The male was then transported to Belconnen Police Station and underwent a breath analysis which returned a result of 0.154.

The man was issued with an immediate suspension notice and will face the ACT Magistrates Court next month for drink driving and reckless/dangerous driving offences.
