This in from the AFP:

A 52-year-old Gowrie man has been caught for the 9th time over the limit in the ACT. He also has five previous drink drive convictions in NSW.

On Thursday December 2 about 9pm, police were conducting mobile patrol on Charleston Street in Monash when they pulled over a green coloured Subaru Impreza for a random breath test. The driver returned a positive result and was taken back to Tuggeranong Police Station.

Between November 29 and December 6, a total of 31 people have been caught drink driving.

Of the 31 that returned positive results, 12 of the drivers have 0.00 to 0.02 limits. The highest reading was 0.251, which was for a 36-year-old 0.00 licence holder with two previous convictions. The highest reading for a 0.05 licence holder was 0.196.

The weekends continue to be the most problematic for drink drive offences in the ACT with 19 positives from Friday December 3 through to Sunday December 5.

car culture is so ingrained. it is related to “road safety” which is almost a null concept without cars. what about “transport safety” as a theme? Of course there would be no cars and probably limited drunk in charge of a vehicle legislations. Anyway, do more people die from errant drink drivers or from drink driving laws in our car satisfaction designed cities? Are those who die this way more or less innocent than others? I’m sure someone will know

Of course in the car religion ideas such as these are mere heresy

Geez, I want what this guy’s smoking!

The question is: Why do these halfwits do this time and time again?
The answer is: Because they can!

This is an example of how our laws and judicial system are not working. FFS these pricks kill innocent people.

If our courts can’t get their act together then some mandatory sentencing laws need to do the job for them.

The reason accidents occur with drink drivers is because they don’t bother to learn to drive drunk. BAM!

+1

It’s not really the guy’s fault considering there arent any How-to-drive-drunk training courses available.
Were to blame for sending our poor drunk drivers out there blind.

Surely this bloke deserves a few months (at the very least) behind bars. Why isn’t it that once a person does it ten times, they do time?

does this guy still have his license? and if so, why?

he drinks red wine with at least one of the female Magistrates. I saw him on at least one occasion in a club at Belconnen in the early hours of the morning.

My aunt, my uncle and their grandchild were killed by a drunk driver.

People like this guy should be locked away forever, without parole, before they do the same thing to somebody elses family.

goddamnit. throw this f***er in gaol already.

The reason accidents occur with drink drivers is because they don’t bother to learn to drive drunk. BAM!

Time to get serious. How about the death penalty for him? Please consider, 13 times DUI to me = 13 times attempted murder.

He probably had a bad childhood and has to drink to get over it. That defence will work like a treat for him.

If it’s the guy I’m thinking of, he’s a menace on the road even when he’s sober! (If he is ever sober!)

But if you believe the government, speed kills – that’s why we spend maximum dollars on stupid speed cameras, and why you don’t see police patrolling the streets like they used to.

This peanut will end up with a slap on the wrist and probably disqualified from driving … which won’t stop him from doing it again!

I think he needs another chance.

We definitely need more speed cameras and less cops to stop people like this.

Only 13 previous? He’s not really trying, is he?

Damn!

If he keeps that up he’s going to get a fine for sure!
