Driver sought after incident on Tuggeranong Parkway

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an incident on the Tuggeranong Parkway on Monday afternoon (October 27), in which a car was damaged after a timber sleeper fell from a passing vehicle.

About 4:00pm a white Mitsubishi Triton was travelling southbound on the Tuggeranong Parkway, just south of the Cotter Road, when a large treated pine sleeper fell from a truck or trailer travelling in a northbound direction. The sleeper collided with the Mitsubishi Triton, causing considerable damage to the vehicle.

Police are seeking to locate the driver of the northbound vehicle involved in the incident.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on https://act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Probably the same tradie who’s wheelbarrow fell out his trailer on GDE the other morning. Luckily the driver in front of me managed to avoid it and I did as well. Tradie just kept driving seemingly oblivious – more likely he CBF stopping, didn’t want to deal with irate motorists.

There should be greater penalties for unsecured loads falling off utes and trucks. Imagine if a motorbike hit the wheelbarrow or the sleeper.
