A driver has been pulled out from the wreckage of their car and transported to the Canberra Hospital after a car and truck collided in Gungahlin.

Around midday on Monday (6 August), ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Ambulance Service responded to a crash involving a car and a truck at the intersection of The Valley Avenue and Gungahlin Drive.

Firefighters extricated one patient from the car and made the scene safe. Intensive Care Paramedics stabilised and treated the driver at the scene before transporting them to the Canberra Hospital.

ACT Policing are on scene managing traffic and are advising the community to avoid the area if possible.

More details to follow.

I hear on the grapevine that the car ran the red light. I guess the car driver played lotto and lost. Of concern though, the truck’s trailer did not have a headboard and the load of roof trusses seems to have shifted. A little bit further and the driver of the truck would have been cactus. I suggest the truck driver buy a lotto ticket for the big draw because it is his lucky week.

Red light running? In Canberra? Surely not.
