Drivers are being urged to avoid Northbourne Avenue this morning following a collision between a person and a light rail vehicle.

The incident took place just before 8 am just north of Ipima Street.

ACT Policing confirmed that person has now been taken to hospital but their condition remains unknown at this time.

A spokesperson for Transport Canberra and City Services said ACT Policing remains on scene and is investigating.

Customers who were on the light rail at the time of the incident were asked to remain on the vehicle awaiting questioning by the police.

This has now been completed and they have been released and are being walked to Ipima stop.
